Jodi & Kurt

When I first photographed Jodi and Kurt at their engagement session I thought these are the two sweetest and most soft spoken people and I anticipated the wedding to be quiet and sweet as well.

Well to my surprise Jodi and Kurt both have the most fun, vivacious and friendly families.

What a wonderful bunch of people. The music was loud and full of life; Grandpa hooked up his accordion and gave a wonderful Wisconsin performance.

Jodi almost came to tears when she saw her cake was the cake of her dreams. Then she teared even more as she stood in front of her groom during the ceremony.

I wish them a happy honeymoon in Greece and a happy life together.
This was a fantastic wedding to kick off the wedding season, thank you.

Kristi & Chris

So after having this crazy snow, I figured I can get caught up on some old blogging and show off an engagement session that happened this last fall. Nice to see some green trees and warmth.

Calfa and Risha photographed Kristi & Chris, which happens to be an old friend of Calfa's from High School. Their wedding is next August, so stay tuned for some more warm photos of them this summer.

Rachel & Nick

Rachel and Nick...

A wedding can be planned in a few months and still be beautiful, romantic, special, and bring family together. Rachel and Nick are a true example of this. Family came from France to America and I'm sure plenty of places in between came to watch these two wed.

It was a cold day in November but the Christmas House in Racine was filled with warmth.
Rachel was stunning in her strapless beaded gown and Nick was looking very handsome as well.
I must say Rachel is a trooper of a woman as she went outside in 28 degree November cold, for outdoor Photos; (twice) once after the ceremony and once at the end of the night.

I feel happy to have been the photographer for this wedding. Rachel and Nick should be together now and always. Thank you and have a wonderful future together here, there, or wherever you two may be...

Jenna & Cade

Hey some people just know how to have a good time.. These families definetly know-how to have a good time...Jenna looked outstanding in her dress with a killer necklace of freshwater pearls, she look great-!! Speaking of pearls Jenna and Cade's dog Loki had her very own pearl necklace...so CUTE!!

A beautiful ceremony at First Congregational Church in Wauwatosa, followed by a ever so classy ride in a Rolls Jenna and Cade arrived at the Reception in the Wisconsin Club. The Cake from Simma's was to die...and the decor over all was spot on (thanks to Jenna’s wonderful Mother)

I thought it was very special to see a little brother sing to his sister on her wedding day...Also I never seen a Brides father dance to Jump Around like that before.. What a wonderful family.

I had a fantastic time photographing this wedding... Thanks for sharing your day with me.

Happy Honeymoon.

Tilney & Ryan

These two are a sweet loving couple. There wedding was fitting and defined them, simple elegant and heart felt. The entire event was held at FireFly in Wauwatosa, and the food was spectacular...
Tilney looked like a Shakespearian love interest with her hair in romantic curls and her dress fit and flowing.
Her sisters as bridesmaids look outstanding in their dresses trimmed with feathers.
After a heartfelt ceremony and an EE Cummings poem "I carry your heart with me" read by Ryan... the guests had passed appetizers that were simply to die for...
Thank you to this loving couple for having me as a part of your day; enjoy the honeymoon kids, and the new life together.

Their first dance said a lot about Jen and Chris... from sweet close moments to spin you around fun vibrant moments. I think that is them in a nutshell.

Elizabeth & Matthew

Liz and Matt,

Well I have got to say these two definitely laid back... from start to finish on their big day they were both cool as cucumbers...
Liz and Matt met on a "set up" at Water Street Brewery with her good friend Dawn as her co-pilot for the evening. I guess the “set up” was a hit, as the wedding would show.

It is a fun part of our job as photographers to hear how they met story and sometimes the story makes you remember how much chance and random luck has to do with how we meet our partners.... It makes me think about my own life and makes me so happy I do what I do, I mean I have the most wonderful day in peoples lives weekend after weekend after weekend...That I get to be a key part of in the documenting way...

Well any who...
Happy Honey Moon Matt and Liz and thank you for having us as a part of your very special day.

Andrea & Charles

What a perfect day for a wedding... The girls all got their hair and makeup done at Andrea's parents house... where her sisters and her told a few funny stories about the struggle of one bathroom, three sisters, one brother and parents...
Then the ceremony was at their church Our Lady Of Lourdes, where everyone was so warm and thoughtful...Then the reception at Muskego Lake Country Club.... Four Sisters Floral did a beautiful job on the decor and Simma's perfect Chocolate cake to end a wonderful dinner. I must admit Andrea and Chuck are big troupers as they toughed it out through the attack of bug bites as we took photographs out side...
Happy honey moon and take care,

Well, Ed may be Laura's little pumpkin but Laura is definitely smitten with Ed...
These two are an adorable funny couple and I had a great day photographing them and their family.
After a simple acronym of LOVE for their ceremony in Fox Point... the close family and friends meet at Lake Park Bistro for an amazing lunch by Bartolotta’s.
Then it was off to Heidelberg Park for the German party to begin. Ed and Laura even displayed their sense of teamwork as they sawed a log together, which I am told is tradition.
Happy honeymoon to the love pumpkins...
Thank you for having me as a part of your day.

Christine & Pete

Christine looked fantastic in her Monique Lhuiller dress and Pete was striking in his suit.
We took care of family pictures before the ceremony, which gave us, as photographers a chance to get to know the family a little better. So when Pete became a little emotional during the ceremony we understood. So cute as he faced his friends and family with tears in his eyes and a lump in his throat and he said, "I thought girls were supposed to do this", as in cry.
After the ceremony we took photos by the lake where this bridal party went right back to their roots... the playground. Swings and little bouncy toys made for a playful photo session in the park.
Then we went off to the reception... and here is one of the things I love about my job... you never know what kind of hidden talents people hold... And at this reception I think Pete holds the award for most talented voice of any groom I' have known. Pete and his boys sang us a little tune and man were they amazing. Pete has an amazing voice and his guys backed him fantastically.
This was one heck of a party... the floor was even bouncing, no joke the floor was moving from all the dancing.... now that’s a party.
Well Pete and Christine have a wonderful honeymoon, we really enjoyed being a part of your special day and we wish you nothing but happiness in your marriage together.
Take Care,

Meredith & Matt

What an honor to be a part of such a beautiful wedding. The attention for detail was unmistakable and remarkable thanks to the group effort of Dynamic Events.

I meet up with the girls, as they got ready in the Intercontinental Hotel. Listening to a little Justin and Brittany made for a great start to what was sure to be a fantastic party.

Meredith had Stella's come to do the hair and makeup of all the girls, as well to help update Meredith's hair and makeup for her evening change... they did a outstanding job of creating unique drama to each individual bridesmaid... oh and they rescued the grooms mother from a "topsie tail" disaster..

Meredith's Monique Lhuiller dress from Gigi's of Mequon was absolutely stunning... then later in the evening Meredith changed into her sassy 1920's almost glam evening look...

This reception in Pier Wisconsin's Pilot House was a sight to be held... fireworks, martinis, an amazing five-course dinner from Bartolotta’s, and even a modern choreographed dance for the Bride and Grooms first dance. I was personally blown away at how professional they looked as the moved across the floor.

Matt and Meredith really are one of those adorable loving couples that made the day... As amazing and beautiful that all the details were, nothing could hold a candle to the Bride and Groom and the families that love them.

Thank you again for having us as a part of your day...

Whitney & Josh

It may have been a hot July afternoon but this wedding was beautiful. A lot of the guests traveled from all over the states to be with Whitney and Josh on their special day; I find that, to be very heart warming seeing family come together.

Whitney was one of the most calm and collective brides I've met. Josh was as well cool and calm. These two are just so laid back you become laid back just being around them.

It was an all around great day that went swimmingly well. Josh gave a speech that nearly moved me to tears. It was so sincere and sweet in that he has married his friend and I find that to be beautiful.
Congratulations and happy honeymoon.

Kelly & Aaron

What a great day.
Aaron may have been stressed but as soon as he saw his beautiful bride Kelly in her outstanding dress from Premiere Couture he was calm as could be.

After the ceremony we had a little time in front of the Capitol to take pictures, then off to the ever so stunning Overture Center. (Where everything looked perfect all in champagne and gold…)

This wedding was a treat for me because I had photographed one of Kelly's bridesmaids weddings. So throughout the whole day I felt like I was pretty familiar with this group.

I wish everyone a lifetime of fun, happiness, and health. Thank you for having me as a part of your special day.

Lindy and her bridesmaids were all so pretty in their bronze like dresses even if breathing or sitting was a challenge. John and his groomsmen looks so very slick in their new trim suits...

A bridal party filled with married high school sweethearts has a lot to say about first love is a forever kind of love.

OK these two are something cute-!! So cute-!! Katy may have been a camera lover and she really posed it up for me all afternoon... but I'd like to say I captured her being her very well.

The Ceremony and Reception was at Boerner Botanical Gardens and it was beautiful. Katy's best buddy a.k.a. her dog Bobo was the Ring bearer and he cruised down that aisle saying hello to all the guests with a quick sniff. After the ceremony I must say Katy's dad really made me blush during family pictures... so that let me know I was in for a delightful reception.

I had a fantastic time being a part of this wedding. Thank you guys for having me photograph you day...
Take care and enjoy the wave pool...

Calfa Kudos. . .

Another of our fantastic client's sent an email to us that I wanted to share with you. As you might be able to pick up, that our clients become part of the Front Room family. We love you all. . .

Here are some words from Julie and her family:

Hi Calfa,
We just wanted to say thank you once more for your terrific work at our wedding! We thought we'd never find a picture of us that we liked, but there are so many wonderful ones in our catalog that we don't know where to start. We're excited to pick out an album! Everyone at the wedding was impressed with your photos (and your ability to keep the ring bearer from crossing his eyes). I thought I'd share some of the comments people have sent me via email about your pics:

"Wow, your photog did an awesome job! You and Dave look great and every picture looks really professional!"

"Love the black and whites!"

"I adore the one of you two with the sky in black and white - it looks so ethereal and otherworldly. And the one of you two dancing forehead to forehead, you could just feel the emotion between you. Fantastic pictures! Kudos to the photographer!!!"

"Calfa did great - no crossed eyes :) "

Best,

Hi Calfa,

Josh and I were completely shocked when we saw our engagement pictures, they were amazing!!! We are still trying to narrow it down and figure out which ones to get - since we want them all (but I think people would be pretty freaked out if they came over and saw 150 picture of us hanging up everywhere). I know wedding the pictures are going to be awesome, I am so happy we found Front Room!

What a wonderful spot to get married. White Pines State Park, it was a hot but picture perfect day for a picture perfect Bride and Groom.

After a scenic ceremony in Wedding Canyon the party had a nice luncheon at the State Park. Then we all jumped on a BIG bus, a really big bus and scooted up to Madison to take advantage of the beautiful gardens and Menona Terrace for family and Bridal photos.

Then the party took off to dinner at Prime Quarter Steak House.

These two are one of the genuinely nicest couples I have ever photographed...

Lindsey & Joe

Lindsey and Joe,

I feel like a part of their family now... After an absolutely beautiful and heart felt ceremony at the Basilica of St. Josaphat, we went to Joe's parents house and even a short stop in front of Lindsey's parents house... So I got to see a little tour of the newlywed’s life as high school sweethearts, that lived just down the street from one another.

The reception was at Pier Wisconsin in the Pilot House and the space looked perfect. Sunset hit the outside of the building just right to give me a perfect chance to photograph Lindsey and Joe having a look at their first sunset together as husband and wife.

Thank you for having me as a part of you wedding, I really love what I do and when I get to photograph a family like these families I know why I love what I do...
These two are so adorable and so very in love... I wish them a happy long life together.

Well I was happy to meet them, and to find out that these pictures are the first "real" photographs they have of them together... I look forward to photographing the wedding and reception at the Union... where I get to meet all the family that will have traveled here to Wisconsin... where people walk their cats on leashes...

Lindy and John

Mark and I had a blast as we stumbled on the most perfect sight... A busted down old red truck that was just fitting for what Lindy and John wanted for their engagement photos.

When we were done John and Lindy were planning on having dinner in Milwaukee so I recommended for them to try this new tapas restaurant on 1st and National called La Merenda, guess that was a hit on their list...

We had a nice time getting to know more about each other and I think we are going to have a great time photographing their wedding.

I also wanted to add this email we received from our rockin' clients:

Calfa (& Mark, of course)...

Just had to say thank you for the wonderful time we had shooting our engagement photos. We had so much fun and are so thankful to Mark for finding that rusty old truck. We have been checking frphoto.com and our email incessantly this week, we can't wait for our own little album to appear!

I'm not sure what we enjoyed more, the photo session or the incredible tapas dinner that ended our night in Milwaukee... your recommendation, La Merenda (I think?), was incredible. One of the best dinners we've ever had... thank you thank you thank you for the whole experience.

What an adorable pair. They were so nervous about getting their picture taken and yet they were fantastic. They are so obviously in love and it is so apparent these two are a perfect fit for each-other.

After the ever so sweet and sincere ceremony, Julie and David rode off in a limo to the Boerner Botanical Gardens for a beautiful and tasteful reception. Superb hors d'oeuvre and a amazing dinner by Bartolottas. Then all their friends showed their skills or humor on the dance floor. A few attempts at the worm were made, and David even requested out of wedding tradition, "the Chicken dance" to be played.

I hope these two are truly happy and I thank them so much for having me as a part of their very special day.

So, as a parent, I know I am not supposed to have favorites, but. . . I just love Premiere Couture. Rosemary and Laura care so much about their clients and make sure that they get the best dress for each client.
We went to Madison to photograph some dresses for Premiere Couture. Here is a a small sampling of what we shot. Be sure to check out their website as they update it in the next couple of weeks with the new photos.

I must also thank our great models, which two of them are our brides. We photographed Erin Nycz last summer and we will be photographing Noelle Washburn this fall.

Alicia & Matt

Alicia and Matt

This wedding fit them to a T.

I meet Alicia at the Courtyard Marriott downtown late in the afternoon.... took photos of her as she calmly finished getting ready and as her Mother kept the Champagne flowing and the nerves down.

After a heavy rain earlier in the day the sky opened up and big pillow like clouds filled the sky. It made form some gorgeous pictures down by the lake.

A quick ceremony and even some tears that lead us into the reception. The evening was all at the William F. Eisner's Museum in the Third Ward. Matt catered to our listening needs by making a set of music for the entire evening. His father and generations of his family showed their ability to entertain on the dance floor.

A hug and kiss for Big Boy and some glowing Gem sign made for fun Alicia and Matt style photo. We even took a late stroll to the Milwaukee River walk area.

I had a wonderful time with the entire family.... definitely a fun loving; enjoy life, kind of group.

Have fun sorting through the music at Amebia records; make a day trip out of it. Happy San Fran honeymoon, and more importantly Happy Marriage...

Thank you very much for having me as a part of you unique and wonderful wedding day.

After a perfect walk in the park for their engagement session, the wedding was fit to follow. A lovely ceremony at their church and a fun filled reception in Lake Geneva, there was even pie at the reception~!!

Well I just had such a photographic fun day with these two. From the start of the day at a beautiful B&B, to the ceremony and reception at the Rivera in Lake Geneva, we had an amazing day. The weather gifted us a perfect day, thank you~!!

Erin was getting ready and the Golden Oaks B&B inn Lake Geneva, where Beauty from Milwaukee came to do stunning hair and makeup.

The ceremony went so smoothly. We then went to the reception in the Grand Rivera Ballroom. The Spinn Doctors D.J. fired up the evening and the dance floor was full...

Happy honeymoon, after law school I think you two deserve a little vacation.

Melissa & Todd

Melissa and Todd...

Melissa was a very take-charge bride but as soon as she put her beautiful dress and veil on, she let her self get into the moment. The ceremony at the Villa Terrace was simply engaging. Sweet and short, but full of lovely words. We went to the gardens below, which was a perfectly warm and sunny day for a wedding.

I had the fine joy of riding on the “Slimmossen” with the bridal party to go have a cocktail or two at the Good Life. Then we rode off to the reception. The best mans speech was a cute story of how Todd and Melissa meet after kick ball at the Monkey Bar in Walkers Point...and the Best Man wanted the date but Todd was too smitten and he got the girl. After dinner and children filled the dance floor and the temperature cooled down... This was a great party at The Lake Front Brewery.

We had a wonderful time photographing this fun group of friends. I gotta say people who play kick ball know how to have a good time...Thank you so much for having us as a part of your day and have a wonderful life together.

Ellen and Paul,

I'm looking forward to their wedding, as it should be a really fun relaxed time at the Lake Front Brewery in mid October, what a great time of year.
We had a very nice time taking these photos at The Intercontinental Hotel Bar. One of the most fun and rewarding things about what I do, is that the time I am taking photographs of a couple are also those little moments that take them away from their busy day to day actives and bringing them back into each others arms to have a nice little (flirty) moment of quality time with each other. It’s pretty cool to be a part of that...

Jessica & Matthew - Update

We just received this today and had to share it:

"Hello! I had an opportunity this morning to take a look at the blog for my sister, Jessy's, wedding....I have to say that the small sampling of the pictures provided were just BEAUTIFUL! My only question to you is - where were you 10 1/2 years ago when Scott & I got married??!! As Jessy's matron of honor, with 3 children in the wedding, I have to say that you were awesome to work with -- and you were so patient with all of us - especially the kids (my little Jordyn! (aka Jo Jo))! I wish I had a small percentage of your talent to take pictures of children and family! Thank you for documenting this special day! You did a fantastic job! You may be hearing from me in the future!

Tasha"

Thank you Tasha, Calfa is pretty amazing at what she does; that is just one of the reasons we love her.

Jessica and Matt,
What a wonderful day... Aside form it being so chilly and windy; the sun was shinning and the sky was blue.
Matt was a little nervous but he relaxed in a room at the Phister with his groomsmen. They helped him stay calm, with a nice personalized bottle of Scotch.
Jessica looked stunning in her lace beaded dress. She is a trooper as we went down to Big Bay park on the coldest day in May...

After photos in the park and few beers on the trolly we went to the Pfister for the reception. No center piece of flowers just yummy personal cakes that were filled with cheese cake and goodness...

Everything was beautiful at their wedding and I wish those two a happy honeymoon.

Sarah & Brian

Sarah and Brian,
I had so much fun with these two. From Sarah's silly stories before the ceremony to help her stop crying, to the laughs and the end of the night on the dance floor; this was a fun fun big group of people.
Brian's Father performed the ceremony and he had the whole family laughing as he told the cute story of how these two meet: a dog walk and the band Cowboy Junkies, need I say more?
After a week of bad weather, Saturday’s sky opened to reveal a beautiful sun and puffy clouds. Mequon Country Club was the perfect place for a lovely reception. Finishing off the night in true Sarah and Brian style with a fire pit on the terrace. I wish them a wonderful happy life and to not be mistakenly called "Franky-o-sos" anymore.
Thanks for having me as a part of your day, happy honeymoon.

Welcome Ruby

Front Room has a hard year with dogs. Eron lost Moses, Risha lost Maeve, and Calfa lost Asia. But with a great smile we welcome Ruby home. Calfa and Tony adopted Ruby last week and are enjoying the beauty of being new parents. Ruby and Luther are relaxing together. Already best friends.

She is so cute and sweet. Expect to see a lot more photos of her, as the weather warms up.

Smiles.
